Preview Bedfont Sports v Ashford, Sat 29 Dec 18

Published by Springett on

Ashford do not have far to travel for their final match of 2018, with the shortest trip of the season looming on Saturday, when the Tangerines make the short journey to play Bedfont Sports.

After a shaky start, Bedfont have quickly adapted to life at Step 4 and will doubtless prove very difficult opponents indeed in what will be the first meeting this season. The address of the ground is Bedfont Sports Recreation Ground, Hatton Road, Bedfont, Middlesex, TW14 9QT and kick-off is 3.00 p.m. Don’t forget that Bedfont now play on a 3G surface.

Both sides were in good form prior to last Saturday but both suffered unexpectedly heavy defeats last Saturday, with Bedfont succumbing 1-6 against Hayes & Yeading, whilst the Tangerines saw their rise up the table brought to a halt by a 1-4 reverse at the hands of Hanwell Town.

It is hard to know what one can expect from Ashford at the moment: at times the play has been excellent but when Ashford lose, it tends to be by a significant margin, with too many late goals conceded towards the end of matches. There have been more wins than defeats though and Ashford are still at the right end of the table but apart from the bottom two, everyone else is comparatively bunched up. Doubtless it will be a keenly contested match as indeed it should be.

If you can’t make it to Bedfont, Southall are back in action at Short Lane tomorrow against AFC Hayes, also at 3.00 p.m.
