Having studied the maps issued by the Football Association this week, there appears to be little doubt that we will be transferred into the Isthmian (Bostick) League for next season.
The Bostick League will be administering three of the seven Step 4 divisions from next seasons, in an area stretching over the whole of the South East. We would seem to come into the Western area, although we don’t know what it will be called, in an area extending to Oxfordshire in the West and tapering down towards the South coast, in an area between Portsmouth and Brighton who both fall into adjacent divisions. It looks as if the Reading and Basingstoke areas will fall within the same division. We would be likely to meet with both Westfield and Bedfont Sports if they are the two clubs promoted from the CCL.
It should mean that we renew acquaintance with clubs that we used to play regularly, such as Molesey, Walton Casuals etc, whilst still retaining the likes of Uxbridge, Marlow and so on. The maps, which can be viewed on the League website, are unavoidably vague at this stage but the final allocations will be announced in May. How much less travelling we will have is difficult to quantify at this stage but it looks as if it will be down overall, especially as the number of clubs is reducing to 20.
