Pre-Season Training

Published by Springett on

Pre-season training will start on Saturday 7 July at the ground.  Existing and prospective new players should please be present around 11.30 a.m. for a midday start.  For anyone who does not know the address is Ashford Town (Mx) FC, Short Lane, Stanwell, TW19 7BH.

Prospective new players will be welcome to come along if they feel they are good enough to compete at Step 4.  With the club’s move to the Bostik League from the Evostik League, the long trips to the Midlands are over, with travel very much reduced.  Ashford’s philosophy of playing passing football as much as possible will continue under manager Ben Murray now starting his 5th season at the helm along with his management team to which has been added Steve Dormer who will bring substantial extra managerial experience to the squad.

As you may have read, both Alex Fisher and Jack Beadle are trying their luck at Step 3 next season with Metropolitan Police and we wish them every success if they can establish themselves at that level.  With the Police seemingly having to be dragged into the Evostick League against their will, having lost their appeal, the lads will see plenty of long distance trips.  Doubtless they will be hoping to establish regular berths as some of their trips will be a long way to go should they find themselves sitting on the bench.  We though wish them the best of luck as both players have gone about matters in exactly the right way  following their loyal service to Ashford over several seasons.  If it doesn’t work out, the door is always open.

Ben and his team have already lined up various newcomers but unlike others, we will delay naming names until they have signed on the dotted line and they have been registered with the Bostik League, which won’t be until July.

In the meantime, any new players who are confident they can play at Step 4 are welcome to contact Ben by sending an email to him at with your football CV.  You can also just turn up on Saturday 7 July.  Step 5 players who have established themselves at that level are especially welcome to try their luck at the next level but still on a generally local basis.

Once again the club has received a substantial sponsorship amount from main sponsors, Hitchcock & King.  We thank them and boss Alan King so much for their ongoing support which this season will see the players wearing yellow and black (H & K colours) as their second strip.
