Fielding virtually two different sides in each half on Wednesday evening, Ashford came out on top against an FC Deportivo Galicia side by 8 goals to 1.  As always with pre-season matches the result was immaterial as was Saturday’s defeat at Abbey Rangers but in both matches the Tangerines managed some good football, especially in the first half this evening, leading 6-1 at the break.  The 3G surface at Bedfont Sports was superb as always, given the current prevailing drought and it is a road that Ashford may well look to follow in due course.

The writer managed to miss the first half but two further goals in the second half emphasised that Ashford look as if they will have plenty of fire power this season whilst their opponents looked lively enough at times, playing some good football but looking somewhat vulnerable at the back.  Ashford have plenty of newcomers in their ranks to augment the existing squad, some of whom will definitely excite supporters but as always we will announce names once we know for certain that they have committed to the club.  One fact worth mentioning is that it was good to see Joe Green finally back in action after his bad injury last season.

The next match is away at Spelthorne Sports on Saturday, kicking off at 3.00 p.m.
