We have our final Saturday home League match this week when we look forward to entertaining everyone connected with Tooting & Mitcham United to Short Lane.

Our visitors, after something of an indifferent start, have shown their credentials in the latter half of the season and will doubtless still be harbouring thoughts of making the play-offs, sitting as they do in 7th place and currently just four points off the final play-off place. All in all, it adds up to another tough match for us, especially with Jack Beadle now looking to have joined the long injury list after hurting his groin on Tuesday evening.

That, at least, brought some joy as we defeated Hanworth Villa 3-0 in the quarter final of the Middlesex Charity Cup, in which we will now meet Northwood next WEDNESDAY, here at Short Lane, with the winners to play Uxbridge on Tuesday 7 May at Hanwell Town FC.

Today is for supporters of both sides with reduced entry plus barbecue, stalls and reduced prices in the bar. There is also to be an Easter raffle and hopefully everyone present will enjoy the afternoon with us.

It’s an exciting time for the Ladies as, on Sunday, they face old foes Godalming Town in the Final of the Capital Women’s Cup, to be played at Meadowbank, home of Dorking Wanderers FC and the new HQ of Surrey County FA (kick-off 2.00 p.m.) whilst next Wednesday (17 April) they have a second cup final, this time in the Repos Cup (Isthmian Women’s League Cup) in which they will meet Leyton Orient Ladies, who play at a higher level. We have been informed by the Isthmian League that this is the first time one of their own clubs has actually reached the final of this competition so we need to go one further if we can and win the trophy. The venue could not be more difficult, being at Aveley FC, kicking off at 7.30 p.m. but it is just another hurdle to be overcome and all support will be welcomed.
