The creation of the Surrey Premier League brought together clubs from three different Intermediate competitions and was intended to help clubs from those Leagues to progress towards Senior football. Because of their strong record in the Surrey Intermediate League (Western), Ashford Town were invited to become founder members, on condition that they affiliate to Surrey FA as well as their parent association, Middlesex FA. The club remains associated with both Counties to this day. Ashford’s eight years in this competition saw them finally move to a home of their own and earn the Senior status that had been the club’s goal for decades when promotion to the Combined Counties League was secured.
