Tangerines on Tour: Jersey Bulls

Ashford in Europe! The Tangerines will play on an island just 14 miles from France and which has its own Government, so is not part of the United Kingdom.

Historic headlines

The Channel Islands have ‘County’ FAs, just like the Armed Forces do, which means the Jersey Bulls can compete in the English National League System, just like Guernsey FC. Jersey Bulls joined the Combined Counties League in 2019 and won all twenty-seven League matches they played before the 2019-20 season was abandoned due to COVID-19. They also won all four of the League matches they managed to play in the aborted 2020-21 campaign and were elevated to Combined Counties League Premier Division South for the 2021-22 season.

The Bulls finished fourth and third in their first two seasons at Step 5. They were Premier Division South runners-up in 2023-24, but lost their play-off semi-final, at home to AFC Croydon Athletic. In 2024-25, Jersey finished second again in controversial circumstances. Both Jersey and Redhill were deducted three points right at the end of the season, dropping both clubs from 96 points to 93, which made AFC Whyteleafe champions and gave the Bulls second spot on goal difference. Jersey beat Fleet Town on penalties to set up a play-off final against Cobham, which they won 2-1.

Last season, Jersey’s debut Isthmian League season saw them finish third in the South East division, again reaching the play-offs. They faced AFC Whyteleafe, whose win on penalties sent them towards the Premier Division and the Bulls into the South Central section.

About the ground

Jersey Bulls play at Springfield Stadium, which was opened in 1885 and is dominated by a large Grandstand, seating 992 spectators. Springfield usually operates to a 2,000 capacity for Bulls matches but the record attendance is 11,100, set when a Manchester United XI visited the island.

Given that travel to an away game  in Jersey involves a little more effort than getting to most fixtures, we’ll leave it to the Official Jersey Bulls Supporters Association to provide the lowdown on the experience for away fans.

Have we played them before?

No, the 2026-27 season will see the first ever matches between Ashford Town (Middlesex) and Jersey Bulls.

Other info

Jersey is a British Crown Dependency with its own Parliament, Legal System and currency so if you go to our away game and pay for anything using UK banknotes, any change would be in Jersey notes and coins; like Scotland, Jersey still has £1 notes.

As interesting as our away match with Jersey Bulls will be, our goal is to maximise attendances at home games, which is why we are encouraging supporters to in invest in a  Season Ticket. They are terrific value; for just £100, supporters can watch up to 32 home League matches across the Men’s and Women’s First Teams AND get 20% off in the Clubhouse.
