Our final article about a club we will face in the 2026-27 Isthmian League South Central division is a club we faced in last season’s Combined Counties League; the Royalists of Windsor & Eton.
This iteration of Windsor & Eton FC was established in 2023 after the original Windsor & Eton FC folded during the 2010-11 season and the original ‘phoenix club’ – Windsor FC – lost momentum and their lease on Stag Meadow. Placed in the Thames valley Premier League, the new club finished third and were promoted into Division One of the Combined Counties League, which they won at the first attempt. Windsor & Eton’s second consecutive promotion placed them into the same Combined Counties League Premier Division North as Ashford Town (Middlesex). The two clubs were locked in a thrilling battle for the Championship, which Ashford won on the final day of the season. Windsor secured second place and won the play-offs to join the Tangerines at Step 4.
Windsor & Eton’s Stag Meadow home is 11 miles from the RPS via the A30 and A308 and Windsor & Eton Riverside Station is served by direct trains from Ashford which take just 18 minutes. From there, it is a short walk to Windsor Castle, where the Number 1 bus towards Ascot will drop supporters at a stop named after the ground. Once you arrive in the ground, the ‘football furniture’ consists of a good-sized Main Stand, a substantial covered terrace on the opposite touchline and terracing around the ground. The clubhouse is tucked into a corner of the site.
Yes, last season, drawing 2-2 at home and winning 2-0 at Stag Meadow.

The original Windsor & Eton once played in front of 8,500 spectators at Stag |Meadow and the big name clubs to have visited the Royalists prior to 2011 include Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford and Red Star Belgrade, meaning the Ash Trees are in good company. With the new club chasing a fourth consecutive promotion, our matches against them are guaranteed to be explosive encounters.
A Season Ticket guarantees you entry when Windsor & Eton return to Stanwell, plus you get 20% off in the Clubhouse and at the Tea Bar for the entire season. It might be the best £100 you ever spend, given that it provides access to 32 matches across the Men’s and Women’s First Teams.
