Having examined the clubs our Men’s First Team will play in the Isthmian League South Central Division, now we take a look at the Women’s First Team’s opponents in the London & South-East Regional League Premier Division. First up are Kent club Aylesford.
Aylesford FC was formed in 1970 and is currently runs more than 50 teams from Under-5 right through to Walking Football. Their Men’s First Team plays in the Kent County League, while the Women’s First Team were long-standing members of the South-East Counties League until they won back-to-back promotions in 2012-13 and 2013-14 to reach what was then a single-division London & South-East Regional League.
The Blues had four seasons in the League prior to the two campaigns which were abandoned due to COID-19, during which they won just two League matches. Their fortunes improved somewhat in 2021-22 and Aylesford were four points clear of the relegation zone at the season’s end, but they ended the following season three points from safety. Reprieved from the drop due to issues at other clubs, Aylesford were relegated by a single point in 2023-24 but spent only one season in Division One South, finishing five points clear of Bognor Regis Town. On their return to Tier 5, Aylesford were competitive throughout last season and finished two points ahead of Ashford.
The main pitch is a floodlit 3G cage with some hard standing for spectators but no covered accommodation. There is a clubhouse a short walk from the main pitch.
The train journey from Aylesford to Ashford is challenging. The first leg is from Aylesford to Strood. From there, a second train goes to St Pancras International. An underground journey from King’s Cross St Pancras to Vauxhall on the Victoria Line sets up what should be the final leg, from Vauxhall to Ashford. However, when Aylesford travel to the RPS on 26 September, rail replacement bus services are operating from Hounslow. In this scenario, a walk to the Treaty Centre and a 116 bus to Short Lane will be more direct. By road, the ground-to-ground journey is a little over 60 miles and would take about an hour and ten minutes.
Between 2019 and the end of the 2025-26 season, there had been six matches between the clubs, the details of which are below:
