Preparing for the 2026-27 season, we’re taking a peek at the Women’s First Team’s opponents in the London & South-East Regional League Premier Division. Our second article of the series is about Barking.
The current iteration of Barking FC is a phoenix club, having been formed in 2006 after the original club merged with East Ham United in 2001 but folded five years later. The original men’s club traces its roots back to 1880 and were the first Isthmian League club to play a league match under floodlights, in 1958. The club moved to the current ground at Mayesbrook Park in 1973
The Women’s Team is well established at Tier 5 level, having finished fifth in the London & South-East Premier Division for the last two seasons. Prior to being laterally transferred into the London region, the Blues were members of the Eastern Region League, winning promotion to Tier 5 in 2023.
The Mayesbrook Park pitch was converted to 3G in 2022. The Main Stand, on the south side of the ground, seats approximately 200. There is also covered standing accommodation on that side, plus a covered terrace behind the West End goal.
The fastest route to the ground via pubic transport is to take a train to Waterloo, then the Jubilee Line from there to West Ham. At West Ham, change on to the District Line and ride as far as Upney. The ground is a short walk away. By road, the journey is a 64 mile trip around the M25, taking roughly an hour and twenty minutes in each direction.
The two matches last season were the first between the clubs:
