Preparing for the 2026-27 season, we’re looking at the Women’s First Team’s opponents in the London & South-East Regional League Premier Division. Our fourth article of the series is about Bromley.
The men’s club was formed in 1892 and has had a remarkable rise from mid-table at Step 4 of the non-League system to Champions of League Two. Along the way, they became only the seventh club to have won both the FA Amateur Cup and the FA Trophy. As recently as 2004, the Ravens were eighth in Isthmian League Division One South with Ashford finishing tenth. Promoted to the National League South as Isthmian League runners-up, the Ravens spent seven years at Step 2, winning their division title. Never finishing lower than fourteenth, Bromley developed their ground and playing strength and were promoted via the play-offs in 2024.Last season, the Men’s Team won League Two to reach their highest-ever level.
Not to be outdone, the Women were runners-up in Division One North to qualify for Tier Five for the first time and reached the League Cup Final, knocking Ashford out at the quarter-final stage. It was the third consecutive season the Ravens had finished as runners-up in their Tier Six division but their first promotion.
It is unlikely that the match between Bromley and Ashford will take place on the stadium pitch at Bromley’s Hayes Lane ground as there are already EFL and WSL games being played on it. However, the club has a FIFA Quality Pro 11v11 pitch within their complex which will probably be used instead.
Taking the M25, a ground-to-ground road journey will take around an hour and a quarter, clocking in at 47 miles. By train, there are two options, both of which involve heading into London. One way is to change at Vauxhall, then take a Victoria Line train to Victoria itself. From there, you can a Southeastern train to Bromley South. If you prefer to avoid Zone 1, alight at Clapham Junction instead of Vauxhall, take a Windrush Line train to Denmark Hill and go to Bromley South from there. However you arrive at Bromley South, Hayes Lane is about a twenty minute walk away.
Including last season’s Cup match, there have been three previous meetings of the Ash Trees and the Ravens.
