Tangerines Women on Tour: Hammersmith

Our journey around the London & South-East Regional League Premier Division returns north and back into Middlesex.  Hammersmith will take on our Women’s team in 2026-27 and today we’re looking at this up-and-coming club.

An introduction to the club

Hammersmith FC is a very new club, having been established in 2021. Their Men’s teams play in the Amateur Football Alliance while the Women’s First Team won Division One North by a point, pipping Bromley and claiming a second successive promotion after being elevated as Greater London Women’s League runners-up in 2024-25.

About the ground

It seems highly likely that Ashford’s away match against Hammersmith will be played at the Quintin Hogg Memorial Sports Ground in Chiswick, which offers both 3G and grass pitches within a 45 acre site. There is a pavilion with bar and changing facilities but no ‘football furniture’ such as stands.

A ground-to-ground road journey is 13 miles and will take around half an hour. By train, take a direct service from Ashford to Chiswick via Hounslow and the ground is a 5-10 minute walk away.

Hammersmith are playing their early-season fixtures at Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub so it is possible that Ashford may be asked to head to Ealing instead. The Hub has grass and two 3G pitches. Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub is marginally closer to the RPS by road at 11.9 miles. On public transport, a train from Ashford to Kew Bridge is one option, or you could get a bus to Hatton Cross and take the Piccadilly Line to Acton Town or South Ealing.

Have we played before?

No, this season’s matches will be the first between the clubs.
