Town’s run of goals comes to abrupt end
Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central
Following Ashford’s recent run of high scoring games today’s fare was a dour, niggly game which neither side really deserved to win.
It was a scrappy first half which Ashford started well and could possibly have had a penalty as early as the third minute when Pietro Palladino appeared to be brought down by North Greenford keeper Jallow, when chasing a through ball from Dan Brown.
North Greenford came back in to things as the half wore on and Charlie Hill found himself one on one with the Paul McCarthy but lobbed the ball over both the Ashford keeper and the bar. McCarthy then proceeded to make three excellent saves to ensure the sides went in level.
Ashford again took control in the second half and whilst never looking like conceding, failed to find the cutting edge of recent performances. A Dan Brown header was cleared of the line in the 57th minute and with just minutes left North Greenford again cleared off the line.
