The new Under 18’s team took on Hampton & Richmond Borough in their first game under the lights at the RPS, taking a second win as their preseason preparations carry on ahead of next months FA Youth Cup and League games.

This preseason friendly saw the U18’s play an organised Hampton and Richmond U18 at the RPS. In a game that started well but then had to stop due to an injury of Kyle Annear in the early stages. A big thank you to the Hampton Physio for his help in making Kyle comfortable.

The game was played in good spirits and saw Hampton have a lot of possession. In the 20th minute a good passing move from Ashford saw the ball get played to Teddy Williams who calmly, and decisively, slotted the ball into the back of the net from about 15 yards to make it 1-0. Hampton again kept the ball and looked to hit in wide areas and had a few efforts that saw Josh Wilson called into action with some good stops. They even had a goal ruled out for offside. In the 46th minute Alfie Poole hit a rocket that hit the underside of the bar and bounced over the line to give Ashford a 2-0 lead going in to half time.

The second half saw much the same but with Hampton pulling two goals back to level as Ashford were starting to tire. On 70 minutes a good bit of play from both Teddy Williams and Fin Smith lead to Fin being put through on goal only to be taken down by the advancing Hampton goalkeeper. The resulting penalty saw Fin smash it home very confidently to make it 3-2. They then held on for the win. A fantastic all round performance from every one of the young Tangerines on the RPS pitch saw them get the result they deserved.

The Under 18’s last preseason game is next Wednesday 28th August away to Spelthorne Sports. Kick off is 7:30pm.
